More blood for oil at the Tate!



On a recent visit to Tate Britain we couldn’t help but notice this new display in Room 13 of pieces by such artists as Peter Kennard, Conrad Atkinson, Judy Clark and Keith Piper. Looking back at a 1978 exhibition organised by art critic Richard Cork the blurb on the wall explains ‘The artist here is in many ways an activist and art is harnessed for political, or broadly speaking ideological, purpose’ Inspiring stuff but the irony was not lost on us when we saw that neatly below those words there was this…
