Crap Arrest Of The Week
For Taking The Biscuit...
The crunch came during a mid-December's night party in Cornwall for one bunch of SchNEWS reading punks when the drummer in a local hardcore band was arrested for throwing chocolate digestive biscuits at the outside of the bar he'd just gigged in. His mate was then arrested, beaten, CS sprayed, cuffed and locked in isolation for asking why he was being arrested, whilst another was nicked for trying to film it and calling the police "F*ckers" when he couldn't. Police overreaction perhaps? Crumbs.

This will cover video, web and print media and will be partly workshops for those newly involved, and also open discussions about all aspects of the media activist malarkey. Some accommodation will be sorted, and help is needed to set this up. Email us if you are interested in helping or coming. Watch out for updates...

Hi Derek, hope you will join us to help save the world's lungs:
Australia is systematically destroying forests and reducing the world’s ability to resist climate change. What happens there will affect us all.
Save Tasmania’s Wild Forests - Forests are the Worlds’s Lungs
Protest in London, Saturday 13 October 2007 12noon at the Australian High Commission, Strand, London WC2B 4LA
Let Australia know the world is watching its planned new pulp mill.
This Tasmanian “World’s best practice” plant will:
• Consume 6 million tons of ancient old growth forest annually.
• Emit 10 million tons of CO2 a year and discharge 64,000 tons of toxic effluent into the sea, every day.
In Australia it is illegal to kill endangered species, yet this practice continues within forestry without fear of prosecution.
Tasmania only has 13% of its old growth forest left.
Licences have already been issued to reduce this to 6%.
Where to meet: 12noon at the Australian High Commission, Strand, London WC2B 4LA. (Nearest Tube: Temple)
Protest info: save_tassies_forests@yahoo.com
