VENEZUELA STATEMENT

Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela

Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs

The government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela witnesses once
again, together with the people of the world, the horror of the death
of innocent children and women caused by the Israeli troops’ invasion
against the Gaza Strip and the merciless air and ground bombardment of
the State of Israel against Palestinian territory.

In this tragic and outrageous time, the people of Venezuela express
their unequivocal solidarity with the Palestinian people, share the
grief overcoming thousand of families that have lost their beloved
ones, reach out their hands, and affirm that the Venezuelan government
will not rest until it sees punishment falling on those responsible
for these atrocious crimes.

The government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically
condemns the flagrant violations of the State of Israel to the
International Right, and denounces the planned use of State terrorism,
with which this country has moved away from the concert of nations.

Due to the aforementioned reasons, the government of the Bolivarian
Republic of Venezuela has decided to expel the ambassador of Israel
and part of the staff of the Embassy of Israel to Venezuela, thus
reaffirming its vocation to peace and its demand to respect
International Right.

The government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has ordered its
Mission to the UNO to press, together with most of the governments
demanding it, the UN Security Council to apply urgent and necessary
measures to stop the invasion of the State of Israel against
Palestinian territory.

President Hugo Chávez, who has held meetings with high-ranking
representatives of the World Jewish Council, and who has always
opposed anti-Semitism and all kinds of discrimination and racism,
calls on the fraternal Jewish people of the world to oppose these
criminal policies of the State of Israel, which resemble the worst
pages of the history of the 20th century. With the genocide of the
Palestinian people, the State of Israel will never be able to offer
its people the perspective of a necessary and lasting peace.
